Resort Roadtrip: Tamarack Resort

Resort Roadtrip: Tamarack Resort

To kick off our Resort Roadtrip blog series, we thought there was no better place than Tamarack Resort. Overlooking Lake Cascade in Idaho's west central mountains, the resort is the perfect springboard to adventure. Here is what Tamarack had to say about their resort:

1. How many runs and chairlifts do you have at the resort?

We have 39 runs, 4 chairlifts, one poma lift and one magic carpet.

      2. What is the typical condition at the resort, and what type of lens should we be prepared to use?

With 2800 feet of vertical, conditions can be variable so a transitional lens like your Fire or Ice lens would be optimal. We tend to have inversion top to bottom, so blue skies at top and cloudy at the bottom. Typically we are more blue bird in January and have more flat light in February.

        Optimal Lenses:

        3. What is the most popular run?

Bliss and Showtime are a crowd favorite with long, rolling terrain and Adrenaline if you are craving a good powder run.

          4. If an experienced rider is feeling daring, what run would you recommend?

Start at the summit on Vista and meander down to the trees through Mystery Glades, tuck down Lower Bliss to our Homestead Terrain park to hit our rails and jumps to our base area.

            5. If skiing or snowboarding conditions are not ideal, what else is there to do at your resort?

We offer 15 kilometers of groomed nordic and show shoe trails, which is a great alternate activity to still enjoy our beautiful settings. You could also enjoy an afternoon at our Seven Devils Pub or Morel’s Restaurant or enjoy a relaxing day at our Vitality Spa in the Osprey Lodge.

            6. What is your biggest event of the year?

New Year’s up at Tamarack is our favorite event of the year with families coming near and far for our annual Burning Glove Torch Light parade and fireworks show. Then we gather round our bonfire outside the Seven Devil’s Pub to ring the New Year in together while dancing the night away.

Additionally, we have numerous USASA events throughout the season.

            7. What makes your resort unique/what is your claim to fame?

We have a saying up here that Tamarack is the place where powder goes to get away from the people and it’s true. Tamarack is one of the best kept secrets in Idaho and we pride ourselves on having a family and friendly atmosphere with excellent customer service that keeps our skiers and snowboarders coming back year after year. A big bonus for us is that we have ski-in/ski out lodging available to make for a unique and easy weekend vacation. We have an open gate policy up at our Summit for great access and also have a terrain park. There is something for everyone.

            8. When is the best time of year to ski or snowboard at the resort?

            February and March

            9. How would you describe the culture or environment of the resort?

We have a coined phrase around here, “TamFam.” We are not talking like 2 kids and 2 parents scenario, but more of an extended family where we are all friends and treat each other like family. Fun, happy, easy going and a love of skiing/riding best describes our culture.

            10. Are you more known for park, powder, or groomers?

All three! We have the Homestead Terrain Park for the park riders, powder can always be found at our Summit Express and we have long, rolling groomers on the mountain.

            11. What would you say the ratio of snowboarders to skiers is?

            70% skiers to 30% snowboarders.
